报告题目:Informatics in Cyber-Physical Systems: Enabling the Move from Internet of Things to Real-Time Control

报告人:Dr. Houbing Song (宋厚冰)

报告摘要:Just as the Internet transformed the way people interact with information, cyber-physical systems (CPS) are transforming the way people interact with engineered systems. CPS integrate sensing, computation, control and networking into physical objects and infrastructure, connecting them to the Internet and to each other. Internet of Things (IoT) is the networking infrastructure of cyber-physical systems. With IoT, physical components should be able to be seamlessly integrated into an Internet-like system so that the physical components can interact each other and to cyber-components in order to achieve mission-critical objectives.Informatics is a broad field that encompasses the collection, classification, storage, retrieval, analysis and dissemination of massive data sets. Informatics in CPS enables the move from IoT to real-time control.

In this talk, I will present my research findings in informatics in CPS. Firstly, I will present an attack-resistant trust management scheme (ART) for transportation CPS. For transportation, CPS provide the foundation necessary for a safe, efficient highway transportation system connecting vehicles, infrastructure, people, and goods in a vibrant, competitive economy. In the proposed ART scheme, the trustworthiness of the transportation CPS could be improved by addressing holistically both data trust and node trust. The ART theme is applicable to a wide range of VANET applications to improve traffic safety, mobility, and environmental protection with enhanced trustworthiness. Secondly,I will present a controlled data packet propagation algorithm called CODIE for Vehicular Named Data Networking (VNDN), i.e., the application of Named Data Networking (NDN) in vehicular communications and networking.NDNis a future Internet architecture which effectively brings Web-like semantics to the network layer, directly supporting dissemination of named, signed data. I will conclude this talk with my ongoing research projects in informatics in CPS.

报告人简介:Houbing Song received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, in August 2012.

In August 2012, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, West Virginia University, Montgomery, WV, where he is currently an Assistant Professor and the Founding Director of both the Security and Optimization for Networked Globe Laboratory (SONG Lab, www.SONGLab.us), and West Virginia Center of Excellence for Cyber-Physical Systems sponsored by West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. In 2007 he was an Engineering Research Associate with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. He is the editor of four books, including Cyber-Physical Systems: Foundations, Principles and Applications, Waltham, MA: Elsevier, 2016, and Smart Cities: Foundations and Principles, Hoboken, NJ: Wiley, 2016. He has published more than 100 academic papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. His research interests lie in the areas of cyber-physical systems, internet of things, cloud computing, big data analytics, connected vehicle, wireless communications and networking, and optical communications and networking.

Dr. Song is a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM. Dr. Song was the first recipient of the Golden Bear Scholar Award, the highest faculty research award at WVU. Dr. Song is an Associate Editor for several international journals, and a Guest Editor of more than 10 special issues. Dr. Song was the general chair of several international workshops, including the first IEEE International Workshop on Security and Privacy for Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems (IOT/CPS-Security) within IEEE ICC, held on June 12, 2015, in London, UK, and the first IEEEInternational Workshop on Big Data Analytics for Smart and Connected Healthwithin IEEE CHASE, held on June 27, 2016, in Washington D.C. Dr. Song also served as the technical program committee chair of the fourth IEEE International Workshop on Cloud Computing Systems, Networks, and Applications (CCSNA), held on December 6, 2015, in San Diego, USA. He is serving as the publicity chair of2017 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)to be held on March 19-22, 2017 in San Francisco, CA, and the technical program committee chair of the fifth IEEE International Workshop on CCSNA to be held on December 4-8, 2016, in Washington D.C.
